We are Asahi Kasei Europe
Diversified Solution Partner
Asahi Kasei is a Japanese technology group with a broad range of highly diversified materials and solutions that not only enrich our modern life but also actively shape the world of tomorrow.
Located at the thriving Düsseldorf Harbor area, Asahi Kasei Europe is the operational headquarter of the Asahi Kasei Group in Europe. In addition to serving European markets with performance plastics, synthetic rubber and elastomers, performance coating materials, membranes and systems, and acrylonitrile, we also work with our sister company Asahi Kasei Microdevices Europe GmbH for the supply of electronic devices.
The Asahi Kasei Europe R&D Center provides technical service to European customers. At the same time it serves as a driver for the development of products and product grades to open up new businesses and application areas for the European market.
Our Focus In Europe
Engineering Plastics
Also in other industries they are adding significantly to lightweight, downsizing and performance.
With standard and semi-aromatic polyamides (PA), homo- and copolymer polyacetals (POM), modified polyphenylene ether (mPPE), as well as glass fiber reinforced polypropylene (PP), Asahi Kasei is offering a broad range of high-performance polymers.
Automotive Solutions
The evolution in the automotive industry is ongoing and new material solutions are in high demand. With functional and sustainable fibers, performance plastics, synthetic rubber and electronic components, Asahi Kasei is offering a unique product portfolio and synergies.
By leveraging its cross-divisional expertise, Asahi Kasei contributes to bring automotive safety, comfort, and environmental performance to the next level.
Technical Particle Foams
SunForce™ is a series of highly functional particle foam beads based on the engineering plastics polyphenylene ether (mPPE).
The mPPE-based SunForce™ BE/BH convinces with its UL94 V-0 flame resistance, as well as with its dimensional stability, high processability and superior insulation properties.
Common to all grades are the adhesive properties, making SunForce™ a perfect material for composite core solutions in combination with metal, fibers or carbon-fiber reinforced plastics.

Our Dedication To Sustainability
Care for People – Care for Earth: This is not just the name of Asahi Kasei’s current midterm plan. It is a philosophy deeply anchored in the company’s DNA. In 1906, Asahi Kasei founder Shitagau Noguchi (1873-1944) built a 880kW hydroelectric power station in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, to supply electricity to nearby industries.
Today, the Asahi Kasei Group has 9 hydroelectric power generation plants in the Nobeoka region (Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan), which provided approximately 14% of the total electricity used by the company in Japan in 2018. The generation of the equivalent amount of power at conventional plants would result in approximately 180 thousand tons of CO2 emissions annually.
Green Hydrogen
Asahi Kasei is taking the next major step towards becoming a provider of large-scale alkaline-water electrolysis systems for the production of green hydrogen.
Find out more about the green hydrogen production in Fukushima, Japan by reading the press release.
Recycling
To contribute to a more sustainability Asahi Kasei collaborates on development of recycling technology for inexpensive, high-quality carbon fiber enabling a closed-loop recycling system for carbon fiber.
In a recent collaboration Asahi Kasei launched a joint demonstration project for chemical recycling of polyamide 66 using microwave-based technology.
Certifications
In 2022 Asahi Kasei received the ISCC PLUS Certification for several products.
The International Sustainability and Carbon Certificate is an international certification system that offers solutions for the implementation and certification of waste and residue raw materials, non-bio renewables and recycled carbon materials and fuels.
